Cervical Myelopathy

Today I received another heart breaking news from home. I have pasted the email from sister here to share it and seek your Du'a. Jazakallah Khair.
My dad had undergone an open heart surgery due to the clogging of 3 arteries in his heart, 9 years ago. And now this, May Allah bestow upon him and my mum patience in facing this challenging period.

I sent dad for a medical review at SGH today because he has problems with his motoring skills esp his nerves. According to the doctor, dad is diagnosed as having Cervical Myelopathy (http://www.aafp.org/afp/20000901/1064.html). Basically, it's a compression of the neck bones that affect his nerves. Surgery, the best solution, is out of the question because of his current medical condition. The doctor rates only a 20% rate of a success. Side effects of a bad outcome from surgery would be stroke or being bedridden. We certainly do not want to take that risk.
The only recommendation that she gave was to make dad lose weight [part of the problem that gave rise to this] and to let him make the most of his life. As you can see, we don't have many options. We're trying to get a second opinion from Dr Teo from Raffles Hosp. I will update you when I have all the info. In the meantime, just pray for his well-being and hope for the best.
Send my regards to all your kids and Asiah. Fyi, mum & dad are staying with me for the next few days.
